6.1 NUMBER PYRAMIDS: Video and PDFs

Lesson materials located below the video overview.

We at GMP are honoured that renowned educator Henri Picciotto shared with us–to thus share with one and all!–this beautiful gem of a number activity. Simple practice with addition and subtraction of number can lead to stunning and deep wonder.

One fifth-grade teacher writes:

Just wanted to say that I had my kids tackle the first two pages of this today — very fun and had some interesting pattern-noticing! Also accessible to all sorts of different levels of math student which was nice.

And leaders for teacher’s math clubs write:

… [T]his was  great activity because we think everyone could access it, and there is enough challenge for those who want to go further.

I shared your Number Pyramids with about 10 teachers at Utah’s Teachers’ Circle last week.  They loved it!  They wouldn’t stop working on them.  I also gave the first couple pages to my 7th graders and plan to return to it later this year.

It’s an activity in the GMP style, curriculum-relevant and curriculum joyful.

Please enjoy!
